Create, Be Fruitful, Multiply, Subdue, Have Dominion

Create

In the beginning, God created!

And so there it is! Those 5 words alone get me excited beyond belief. Have you ever had idea after idea, thought after thought, dream after dream about something you just knew you wanted to create? If you have then you are definitely not alone and I believe the good ideas, thoughts, and dreams are God-inspired. Obviously, there are bad ideas, thoughts, and dreams but we won’t get into that just yet.

Creating is a God-given gift and one that so many people overlook, doubt or focus on the lack of creating rather than the abundance of creating. Being creative is a “law of God” if you will and it’s been put in place since the beginning. Remember God telling Adam to name the animals? Did that require Adam to be creative?

Live, Work, Create

You Have An Idea, Now What?

Well, you might expect me to say “pray about it”, well, I don’t know about you but my ideas will sometimes come in neverending droves, and depending on what I’m doing at the moment, my focus is on the whole process of the idea, from start to finish and while I may not pray about it at first, I do tend to run it by God in some form or fashion.

Since creative ideas are known to pop in our heads at any given moment, I think the best thing to have is something to capture them on. Some people are old school and carry a pad and pencil around while others are more technically advanced and put everything on a digital platform. Either way is good, the key is to “put it in writing”. I can’t tell you how many ideas have slipped through my fingers because I didn’t have something to write on or I just let them go thinking I’ll come back to it later, which, later never happened.

So the first step is to write your ideas, thoughts, and dreams down. It really doesn’t matter how detailed they are, just write down some “reminder” keywords if that’s all the time you have.

Be Fruitful

Every fruit has a seed, right? Well, in order to be fruitful we have to let that “creative seed” that is in us grow. We’ve all heard the story or rather the analogy of the acorn growing into an oak tree. It’s the very same principle here too.

A growing seed takes time and also outside help. An acorn does not grow on its own, it has help from the earth’s soil and the water from the rains. And in case you missed it, notice what I didn’t say? I don’t know of one oak tree that has gotten help from another oak tree or a human being for that matter. An acorn is dependent on nature itself. And who controls nature? Why God of course!

But enough of the acorn analogy, for us to be fruitful we will need help. And that help can and most assuredly will come from people, places, things, and probably the most helpful is “tools”. In today’s world of technology, there are so many tools available to help us grow. In today’s world, a “creative seed” can literally grow in the “blink of an eye”.

Multiply

Have you ever heard…

Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed.

Robert H. Schuller

That’s multiplying at its highest level! Once you’ve got your “creation” and you’re working on being fruitful, then the multiplying takes center stage. Multiplying in my opinion is one of the most spiritual experiences anyone can have. It happens with humans and it happens with “creative seeds”.

You’ve heard the term “viral”, right? Well, that’s just today’s trendy word for “it’s multiplying faster than I can count!”. Thankfully we have the “machines” to do the “viral counting”. But at its core, multiplying is what gives us the abundance, it gives us that confidence, it gives us that certainty of knowing “we’re actually doing it!” Yes, multiplying is an amazing and exhilarating experience. Once you’ve caught the multiplying bug, it’s pretty much all you want to do from there on out.

But getting to the multiplying experience isn’t a walk in the park nor is it an end to a goal. It’s actually one of the most difficult parts of the process to achieve as we’ll see next.

Passion Led Us Here

Subdue

According to the Merriam Webster Dictionary, the definition of “subdue” is

1to conquer and bring into subjection

2to bring under control especially by an exertion of the will

3to bring (land) under cultivation

4to reduce the intensity or degree of

As with most, if not all things in life, with the good comes the bad. You created something, your “creative seed” starts bearing fruit, you start experiencing multiplication, and BAM!…obstacles and adversity rears their ugly heads. And typically the natural response is “why me? why now? what did I do wrong?”

At that point is when we absolutely positively and must “subdue” any and all obstacles and adversity! There are no two ways around it!

Did you know that successful people deal with adversity? It’s true. If you read the stories or profiles of most successful people, you will be surprised at just how adverse their situations were. They often tell the stories for others to learn and use to overcome adversity.

You should read the profiles of successful people. They contain gems of information and can act as a resource for everyone else. The story is one aspect of reading about them. However, how they dealt with the situations is often a source of inspiration. When you become inspired, you increase your chances of dealing with your problems.

Inspiration doesn’t last forever, unfortunately. You need to reinforce the message. If you can, try to set aside time to read one story of a successful person every month. It will help you with your inspiration, and it will feed ideas on how to use their stories to make your life easier or better.

The stories of some people are dated. However, their techniques may be timeless. A perfect example of this is Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People. The stories themselves describe people and occupations of days long gone. But, his techniques are as valid today as they were back then.

You can read all about the stories of successful people and get inspired. But, if you don’t take action, it will be of little help to you. At that point, you become nothing more than a dreamer. Having dreams is good, but you need to make sure you take action on those dreams.

Reading the stories of successful people shows that they are just like the rest of us. There isn’t anything superhuman about them that led them to their successes. You will find a common theme among those facing adversity. They had persistence and kept a positive attitude. Those two attributes will take you far when facing any situation.

You can choose to read stories online or find material in your local library. You can also choose to find stories on the internet. Be careful of the resources you find online. Anyone can publish whatever they like and sound convincing on their authority. Make sure you check the resources and keep a critical eye out for people who don’t present qualified information.

When you get in the habit of reading the material of successful people, you will shift to a successful mindset yourself. You will have a memory bank of stories to draw inspiration.

You see, to get to having dominion, this is the most crucial part of the process, subduing the obstacles and adversity. It’s basically like the ol’ saying of “where the rubber meets the road”.

Do you remember the being fruitful stage? Good, because you will most likely be calling upon the “help” that helped you grow!

Success

Having Dominion

Please humor me and say that again “having dominion”. Do you realize what that really means? It basically means that you’ve just become “king or queen” of your “created, fruitful, multiplied, and subdued” creative seed! Now the question is, do you know what it means to be a king or queen? We’re not just talking about royalty here, but the actual and literal act of being a king or queen.

And what is the best kind of king or queen? A servant king or queen! Now that you’ve lived and experienced the “law of God” in being creative, fruitful, multiplying, subduing, and having dominion, you’ll most definitely want to be serving in the capacity of king or queen. It’s your responsibility and assignment to see your “creative seed” through and that it serves others in hopes of benefitting all who come to know of you and your idea, thought, or dream!

Remember the “Anyone can count the seeds in an apple, but only God can count the number of apples in a seed”, well, that’s where you at, you are the apple tree with apples and only God can count the number of apples in a seed that will come from your apple tree.
